Lady War Eagles Fall to State-Ranked Atascocita

The Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles were more than gracious hosts to Atascocita on Friday night falling 62-24.

Contributing to the loss was a 19% shooting night to include 0-9 from threeville.

The game plan was good as Oak Ridge’s defense was solid. The Lady Eagles 6’7″ post could not get untracked as she was double and triple teamed when the game was still in doubt. Although Oak Ridge had their share of offensive chances, they could not seem to get untracked in the shooting department.

A major positive with Oak Ridge is they are not intimidated. Atascocita is state ranked and the effort is there for 32 minutes. However, no matter what the effort is, 8-42 shooting and 27 turnovers won’t get you a victory over a 1A school much less a legitimate opponent like Atascocita.

Celeste Rypien led Oak Ridge with 8 points. Kali Bass had 5. Nadia Schmidt contributed 5 boards.

Oak Ridge is at The Woodlands Tuesday night.

Born and raised in New England, Doug promises he got to Texas as fast as he could. He earned the much needed "piece of paper" from Sam Houston State, proving to himself he could start and finish something. Doug's interests include coaching and playing any sport and still plays lacrosse competitively. He also enjoys going to dinner theaters, though he complains there just aren't enough of them in the area. Doug was brought up in a cultured environment, having suffered through dozens of symphonies and operas with his way too over-educated mother. At the end of the day, Doug is just a dad and husband and claims to be good at both.
