Wounded War Eagles Drop One to Highlanders 65-53

Oak Ridge fell to 2-2 in district play losing to The Woodlands 65-53.

The Woodlands’ (3-0 and 20-3) sophomore, Garret Colonna lit it up for 21 points as Oak Ridge could get no closer than 10 points after the first quarter. The Highlanders’ point guard Brandon Caporale added 10 as he orchestrated Coach Dale Reed’s fast paced Woodlands offense.

Coach Reed is impressed with the War Eagles, “Oak Ridge is a very tough, scrappy type of team. Injuries have been their biggest hurdle they have had to deal with. Coach Stewart is constantly trying to get them in their rhythm but it is so hard when certain guys are out for long periods of time. Then you have the obstacle of working them back into the rotation when they get healthy again. As you could see in the 4th quarter, they have some really good shooters but we just got too big of a separation in that 3rd quarter. When they are all healthy and in their groove they are as good as anybody in our district.

Marc Forson led all Oak Ridge (2-2 and 14-8) scorers with 11 as Taw Mann and Terrell Lawrence added 10 each.

Doug Sarant, Oak Ridge Now

Born and raised in New England, Doug promises he got to Texas as fast as he could. He earned the much needed "piece of paper" from Sam Houston State, proving to himself he could start and finish something. Doug's interests include coaching and playing any sport and still plays lacrosse competitively. He also enjoys going to dinner theaters, though he complains there just aren't enough of them in the area. Doug was brought up in a cultured environment, having suffered through dozens of symphonies and operas with his way too over-educated mother. At the end of the day, Doug is just a dad and husband and claims to be good at both.
