The War Eagle boys soccer team got off to a slow start in district as they took one on the chin losing to College Park 5-1.
The game also got off to slow start due to the wet, cold conditions. After several early misses by College Park, the War Eagles Martin Gonzalez struck the post on a counter attack which seemed to wake up the Cavaliers. At the half, CP had a 2-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same with CP racking up the possession and shots ongoal. Oak Ridge’s Jose Mendoza was able to get a late goal to eliminate the shutout.
Oak Ridge is now 0-1 in district and 3-4-1 overall as they hope to get back on track on Friday in hosting Conroe at War Eagle field.
