The War Eagles soccer team lost a hard fought game to the Woodlands Friday night by the slimmest of margins, 1-0.
Most of the game was controlled by The Woodlands, but Oak Ridge had their chances to score. A goal in the first half by Steven Gelormini was disallowed due to an off-sides call and Oak Ridge had a few chances in the second half but could not find the back of the net.
The War Eagle defense was compact and composed under the pressure which frustrated the Highlanders into making several mistakes. Defensively, Oak Ridge was led by Junior goal keeper Erik Grace who had multiple key saves to include one which would have made any ESPN highlight reel.
The offensive side of the game was led by Martin Gonzalez, Jose Mendoza and new arrival, Steven Gelormini.
The War Eagles seek to get back on track when they travel to Lufkin on Tuesday. The following week they will wrap up the first round of district action against Kingwood.
