Lady War Eagles Rally Late to Top College Park 5-3

The Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles started off district play on the right foot in defeating College Park 5-3 at College Park Friday night.  Oak Ridge pitcher Taylor Hastings got the win as she fanned nine Lady Cavaliers. CP’s Julie Charbonneau absorbed the loss.

In what could be described as an ugly game, CP was holding on to a 2-1 lead when things started going Oak Ridge’s way in the seventh inning. The Lady War Eagles scored four runs on the strength of three walks, a timely bunt, a base knock with two additional bases on an error by the CP right fielder. The Lady Cavs added a run in their half of the seventh.

Other than Taylor Ervin’s stellar 4-4 hitting performance and Carly Latta’s triple, the Oak Ridge bats struggled on this night.

College Park had seven hits in all to include a Paige Thompson triple. Kayla Shows, Ashlyn French, and Haylee Stein all had doubles.

Next up for Oak Ridge is a Tuesday district tilt with Conroe at home at 6pm.
