Sophs Open District with 2-1 Win Over College Park

The Oak Ridge Sophomore baseball team opened district play with a 2-1 win over College Park at War Eagle field Tuesday night.

The afternoon belonged to Oak Ridge’s Drew Morytko as he out-dueled College Park’s Montana Parsons. Morytko pitched seven strong innings allowing just one earned run while whiffing four Cavaliers.

The Oak Ridge defense did their part in committing just one miscue. Oak Ridge backstop, Alex Walker threw out the only would be base stealer.

Tanner Doyle got the scoring started for the War Eagles with a leadoff triple in the first inning. Shortly thereafter, he scored on a passed ball. Oak Ridge’s second run came in the fourth inning on a Ryan Hoepner RBI ground out.

Two runs would be all Oak Ridge would need to defeat College Park this night.

The War Eagles collecting hits in the game were … Tanner Doyle 1-3 triple, Alex Walker 1-3 double, Jacob Norton 1-3 double, Kim Plympton 1-3 single and Drew Morytko 1-3 single.
