Conroe Upsets War Eagles on Senior Night

On Senior Night at Oak Ridge, the Conroe Tigers defeated the War Eagles 14 to 9.  Conroe pitcher Cody Myrick threw 136 pitches giving up nine runs off nine hits and four errors for the victory. Struggling to get the final out in the bottom of the 7th for the complete game, Myrick was relieved by Greg Belton for the last out.

Oak Ridge’s starting pitcher for the home opener Justen Heuermann allowed nine runs on nine hits with four walks through four innings.  Tyler Cook pitched the last three innings giving up five more runs off five hits and three errors.  The two pitchers combined for 145 pitches to 42 Conroe batters. Conroe batters Caleb Kroon and Greg Belton had home runs as the Tigers racked up 14 hits.

Oak Ridge catcher Cody Althouse was two for four at the plate with a solo home run to start off the 2nd inning.  Freshman Mario Garza was two for three at the plate with a single and a triple.  Five other Oak Ridge batters got singles off Myrick on the night.
