The Little Things That Count: Great Fashion Accessory Gifts

Neiman Marcus joins with Target to bring designer style with affordable prices this holiday season. Photo: Marc Jacobs metallic pouch purses, $69.99. (

Holiday shopping for the fashionistas on your list is a cinch this year when you focus on the little things — accessories that won’t break your budget but will be appreciated by everyone on your list. There are lots of trendy ways to play Santa. Here is a list that you’ll be checking two and three times a day!

—Start shopping for your favorite people by keeping calm. For a fan of yoga, this gift is a perfect way to de-stress for the holidays. Check out Aurorae’s Spa Organics new Meditative Mist Aromatherapy made in the U.S. by the Vermont Soap Company. For $14.95, this is a great buy (

—Get designer names at discount prices. Have a fashion “snob” on your gift list? Now is a great time to scope out famous designer brands on a budget. Target has teamed up with Neiman Marcus to bring high fashion to a whole other level — at great prices. One of my favorites is the Marc Jacobs metallic pouches for $69.99. Another is Derek Lam‘s animal print slippers for $49.99 ( Did I see some look-a-like Jimmy Choos recently?

—Give a sweet gift. It’s called “arm candy,” and there are a lot of these goodies out there. The trend to pile on the bracelets, cuffs and leather wraps is just too good to pass up. I personally like to support local artists who conjure up one-of-a-kind treasures in handcrafted metals or gemstones.

—Smack your lips. Another delicious way to treat those on your gift list — lip balms that taste as good as they look. I like Laura Mercier‘s mini lip glazes that come in a set of five different colors for $36. ( Pier One also a great selection of whimsical lip balms — since my daughter was in a Chi Omega sorority, she’s getting the “owl” soap and lip-gloss. (

—Go faux. The fur is flying this holiday season, and there’s no better time than to get all fuzzy with your family and friends. Whether it’s a cozy wrap, a pair of ear muffs with built-in head phones or a great faux fur vest, this is an easy trend to warm up to at all price points. (

—Get vested. Another gift that’s sure to please, the vests are making great statements this holiday season. From dressier fur vests to sporty quilted puffers, this is one fashion trend that is here to stay. One of my favorites — the quilted vests at Coldwater Creek with built-in shaped waists — offers the best of both worlds. (

—Have a hat (and glove) attack. Who doesn’t like to pull on a warm hat and a pair of gloves on a cold winter day? You can never have enough of these stylish accessories. Check out the great selection at great prices at Old Navy (

—And for that chic little dog on your list. If you’ve got a favorite canine that needs a little holiday cheer, you’ll love the new Chilly Dog unique dog sweaters at Lands End. The hooded reindeer sweater with antlers is a great way to put some cheer into your pup’s life! (
